Unit 1.11

1.  What do you know about yourself as a learner?
It takes a lot of repetition for me to learn something, especially when it is not hands on.
2.  What has  impacted your life as a learner?
The various jobs that I have had, the people that have come into my life. Also the different challenges that I have had to encounter on my journey to getting to my destination of being a teacher.
3.  What score category did you get on your mindset quiz?
I got a 60% or an 18, the category was some growth and some fixed ideas.
4.  What is the connection between your mindset and your experience as a learner?
My mindset is limited to a point, so therefor what I learn or the rate that I learn at is hindered. This is because I have not allowed myself to be as open minded as I can be to have my learning experience reach its full potential.
5.  What steps are you taking to grow your mindset and become the learner that you hope your students will one day be?
I am trying to keep myself better organized so that I have a better idea what is asked of me. I am learning to adapt to a new learning environment so I can still achieve what is being asked of me on a daily basis.

  1. Dan,
I like your honesty within the post. I found myself that staying more organized helps me with my learning as well. Making sure that I am on top of the things that I want to accomplish and using a planner to see the “goals” of things that I want to accomplish throughout the day or week. Various jobs and people that I have met throughout my life have also impacted my learning for the better and the worse. I wouldn’t change the negative encounters though because that just showed me what not to do when helping someone accomplish their learning goals or their life goals in general. Great post my man!
